General
What is Resistance?
A strength-training app: you log your sets, it keeps the record, and Coach reads that record to tell you what to do next. It runs on iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS, and the web.
Is it free?
Yes. Free covers unlimited logging, all 20 starter programs and sessions, progress charts, personal records, and the community. Paid plans add the watch, building your own routines, full-history charts, and Coach.
What does it cost?
Free is $0. Pro is $4.99 a month. AI is $19.99 a month. Nothing is for sale until the App Store release — see pricing.
Who is it for?
People who lift and want the record to be accurate: barbell training, machines, dumbbells, bodyweight, and cardio all log natively.
Do I need a gym?
No. The starter programs include dumbbell-only, band, hotel, and bodyweight routines, and the exercise library is filtered by the equipment you have.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes — onboarding picks a starter program for your equipment and schedule, and every exercise ships with cues and form images.
Who makes it?
One engineer who lifts. That is the whole team, which is why the roadmap is honest and the API is a first-class product rather than an afterthought.
Platforms
Is there an iPhone app?
Yes, currently in TestFlight beta. The App Store release comes at launch. Ask for a beta invite.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes, and it can run a whole workout without your phone. It is part of the Pro plan.
Is there a Wear OS app?
Yes. It mirrors a workout running on your phone — the set you're on, the load and the reps, and the rest countdown, all changeable from the wrist. It follows the phone rather than replacing it, so unlike the Apple Watch app it doesn't yet run a workout on its own or record heart rate, and you reopen it from the app list once your watch has slept. It ships in the same Google Play listing as the Android app, arriving at launch, and it is part of the Pro plan.
Is there an Android app?
Yes — the whole app, with Health Connect and a Wear OS watch app. It arrives on Google Play at launch, with testing before it.
Is there a web app?
Yes — app.rezist.ai is the full app in a browser, same account and same data. It is the only surface that does not need a beta invite.
Is there an iPad app?
No iPad-specific app. It will run in iPhone compatibility mode, which is not the same thing as being designed for it.
Do I need my phone with me at the gym?
Not with an Apple Watch: on Pro it runs a whole workout standalone. A Wear OS watch mirrors the phone rather than replacing it, so that one needs the phone with you. Without a watch, the web app works from any browser.
Features
Does it work offline?
Completely. Logging writes locally and syncs in one round trip about every twenty seconds when you are back online.
Does it track cardio?
Yes — distance, duration, and pace, including GPS and treadmill sessions from the watch.
Does it write to Apple Health or Health Connect?
Yes — Apple Health on iPhone and Apple Watch, Health Connect on Android. Every finished session is saved as a real workout with the calorie estimate that goes with it, and your latest bodyweight can be read back in. Health data is never used for advertising and never sold.
Can I import from Strong or Hevy?
Yes, from their CSV exports, with a preview of exactly what will be created before anything is written. See importing your history.
Can I export my data?
One tap, whole account, JSON — on every plan. Programs also export as YAML.
Does it have a plate calculator?
Yes, per side, using your bar weight and the plates you actually own. Warm-up ramps build themselves from it.
Can I follow friends?
Yes — a feed, follows, reactions, clubs, and challenges with live leaderboards.
Can I publish a program?
Yes, to the marketplace, with Pro. Installing other people’s programs is free and never counts against your limits.
Coach
What is Coach?
The trainer built into the app. It reads your logged sessions, records, and weekly volume, and answers from those — not from generic advice.
Does Coach cost extra?
Broadly yes: talking to Coach is paid. Every account gets a free trial first, on any plan, no card. After that, on Pro you bring your own AI key, with a month free to start; on the AI plan we run it for you.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes, under Settings → AI coach & memory, which lists the AI companies it takes a key from. Keys are encrypted and never shown back to any device.
What data does Coach see?
Your training: sessions, workouts, exercises, records, and the memory notes you can read and edit. With your own key that context goes to the company you chose, under their terms. When we run Coach it goes to whoever runs the model for us, named on the subprocessors page. Either way, see the privacy policy.
Does Coach write anything without me asking?
Yes. A short review of a session lands a couple of minutes after you finish it, and a summary when your week turns over, both written in the background. Summarize my workouts, under Settings → AI coach & memory, turns them off — with it off neither is written, and nothing about a session is sent to a model for one. What goes out while it is on is set out on the privacy policy.
Does Coach make up numbers?
No. Every figure comes from the same math the app runs — estimated 1RM, plate math, volume landmarks. It never does arithmetic in prose.
Account and billing
How do I cancel?
In your Apple ID subscription settings, or Settings → Resistance Pro in the app. App Store subscriptions are always managed by Apple.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. You keep everything you logged; the Pro and AI features stop.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or rezist.ai/delete-account from any browser. It erases your training data immediately and is permanent, so export first if you want a copy.
Is my data sold?
No. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. It is your training log.
Still nothing?
